A police officer died after being hit by a truck in the capital's Rayerbagh area on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Abdul Baten (45). He was posted to the Gandaria Police Station. The incident happened at Rayerbagh Outgoing Road around 9:15 p.m.
Later, he was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where the duty doctor declared him dead around 10:00 p.m., said Inspector Bacchu Mia, in charge of DMCH Police Outpost, as per UNB reports.
Quoting eyewitnesses, Traffic Division official Md Nasrul Hasan said, the truck hit Abdul Baten's motorcycle and fled the scene.
