Police have recovered the body of a newlywed woman from a pond in Dohar, four days after her marriage.
The victim has been identified as 18-year-old Shikha Akter, wife of Ruhul Amin.
The body was found in a pond adjacent to her father-in-law’s house in the neighbourhood of Miapara in Uttar Joypara in Dohar on Monday, said Sheikh Sirajul Islam, chief of the local police station.
Four suspects were arrested with alleged links to the incident, said police.
The arrestees are Amin’s uncle Md Khokon, 50, his mother Asma Begum, 45, sister Faria Akter, 18, and sister in-law Mohona Akter, 20.
Amin remains absconding since the incident took place.
Shikha married Amin on Friday. She was the daughter of Md Siraj, a Kuwait-based migrant worker from Doharghata, bdnews24 reports.
“She went missing on Sunday. Her family spotted her body in the pond and reported it to police,” Sirajul said citing locals.
The body was taken to the Sir Salimullah Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
