Syeda Rizwana Hasan, adviser to the Ministry of Water Resources, on Sunday said reform of the police force will be implemented based on the proposal of the United Nations investigation team.
The advisor made this statement in response to questions while talking to reporters in her office at the secretariat today.
A video of the police’s actions during student protest has recently been published on social media.
When asked whether it is possible to reform the police force in any way after watching the video, or to restore the confidence of the people on the force, the adviser said, "If you look at the scope of the UN Fact Finding Mission, it is mentioned that they will also tell us about the security reforms that need to be taken to prevent this incident from ever happening again."
“There is also talk of a police commission. The purpose of this is that we cannot undo what has happened but ensure such incidents do not happen again.”
