Police have disclosed the identities of three men who were killed in Khagrachhari's Guimara during clashes sparked by the alleged gang rape of a Marma schoolgirl.

The victims, all aged between 20 and 22, were residents of Halfchhari Union in Guimara Upazila. They were named as Teiching Marma, 20, son of Alakai Marma from Ramsu Bazar, Athuihpru Marma, 21, son of Thuhlaiang Marma from Amtali Para, and Akhrao Marma, 22, son of Hasu Marma from Cheng Guli Para.

Chattogram Range Deputy Inspector General Ahsan Habib Palash said postmortem examinations had been completed.

He added that 10 others were injured in the violence, with one taken to Chattogram Medical College Hospital.

The unrest began on Sept 23 when a Marma teenage girl was found unconscious in a field. Her father filed a rape case with Khagrachhari Sadar Police Station later that night. Police arrested a suspect the following morning with support from the Army.

Protests demanding justice soon erupted across the hill district, eventually escalating into violence.

Despite the imposition of a ban on public gatherings and assemblies under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, along with the deployment of additional Army and Border Guard Bangladesh personnel, the situation deteriorated.

On Sunday, violence flared in Guimara, where the trio were reportedly shot dead during clashes with security forces.
