BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi today (Saturday) said that the aspiration of the July Uprising is a new Bangladesh.

He said, "The self-sacrifice and aspiration of the martyrs in the July Uprising is a new Bangladesh. A new Bangladesh where no fascist will ever be born again, where no one will suppress the voices of opposition political parties and people's freedom of expression, and where people will roam freely with security. These are the core spirit of the July Uprising."

Rizvi made the remarks to the media after an event where he provided financial assistance to the ailing radio artist Afroza Nizami in Shyamoli of the city on behalf of BNP's Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, BSS reports.

Convener of Amra BNP Poribar, a platform of BNP, Atiqur Rahman Rumon, among others, was also present during the event.

Referring to the BNP's support for the July National Charter, Rizvi said, "Of course, we are in favor of the July Charter. But the essence and substance of the July Charter, which the general public can understand, should have been presented to the nation in that manner."

The veteran BNP leader also commented that if one disagrees on any one of the four questions in the referendum, there is no scope to say 'No'. He later advised that the referendum questions should be framed in a way that the common people can understand.

Alleging that the Awami League is attempting to create sabotage in the country, he said, "The Awami League is attempting to create sabotage in the country with huge financial backing from India. They want to create a terrifying situation in the country."

When asked about the verdict concerning fascist Sheikh Hasina, Rizvi said that the matter of Sheikh Hasina's trial lies on the court. But the people of the country want a fair trial for the killings.

Accusing that the country's situation is gradually being taken towards a murky state, Rizvi said that the deposed autocrat is engaged in various conspiracies from a neighboring country.

They are carrying out various acts of violence, starting from burning cars in Dhaka, Gazipur and other places.

"This culture is the Awami culture. If the government had broken the fangs of fascism from the beginning, this would not be happening now."
