The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has decided to investigate corruption allegations against Md Asaduzzaman Hiru, so-called foster son of Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader.

Hiru is accused of having earned a huge amount of illegal wealth through smuggling, hundi (illegal money transfer), tax evasion, extortion, tender manipulation, and other irregularities.

There are also allegations that he laundered money abroad.

On Sunday, ACC Deputy Director (Public Relations) Md Akhtarul Islam shared this information with reporters.

According to ACC, Hiru is currently serving as a director of National Development Engineers Ltd (NDE).

He is also president of the Gulshan-1 DNCC Market and owner of several businesses, including Paragon, London Touch, Paris Group, and West Field. It is alleged that using political influence, he built massive illegal wealth behind these businesses.
