Former adviser to the interim government Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain has rejected reports on keeping government-allotted residence occupied despite resignation as an adviser.
Describing the reports as false, fabricated and intentional, the former adviser on Friday said he handed over the residence, Niloy-6, to relevant authorities of the government following due process on December 31 last year, 21 days after his resignation on December 10.
“Currently, I am staying at a rented residence and conducting political activities from there,” Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain, the chairman of the election management committee and spokesperson of the National Citizen Party (NCP), said.
“As per the residence allocation policy, the government officials can stay at allotted residence two months after resignation or retirement. I handed over the residence before the two-month deadline,” he added.
“The truth can be established if anyone can verify the documents submitted to relevant ministry in this regard. Such misleading reports were published only to defame and harass him,” the NCP leader said.
