The top officials of the Election Commission (EC) have met with the members of an Australian delegation.
They discussed tackling misinformation and the use of artificial intelligence (AI) on social media ahead of the upcoming 13th Jatiya Sangsad election.
Both the sides exchanged views on the proper use of technology, preventing misinformation, and election preparations in the meeting that took place at the EC headquarters in the capital's Agargaon area on Wednesday.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) A M M Nasir Uddin and EC Secretary Akhtar Ahmed met with the delegation led by Anne Aly, minister for International Development, Multicultural Affairs, and Small Business.
The Australian delegation also included officials from high commission in Dhaka.
EC Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed talked to the journalists after the meeting, saying that the Australian minister came for a courtesy meeting.
"They wanted to learn about our election preparations and progress, and they also shared their own experiences," he said.
