Babar’s wife withdraws candidacy from Netrokona-4

Tahmina Zaman Sraboni, wife of BNP-nominated candidate and former state minister for home affairs Lutfozzaman Babar, has withdrawn her candidacy along with two other contenders in Netrokona.

Tahmina had stood as an independent candidate in the Netrokona-4 constituency covering Madan, Mohonganj and Khaliajuri.

District Returning Officer Md Saifur Rahman said on Tuesday that 27 candidates were initially declared valid across the district’s five constituencies.

Of them, three have withdrawn their nominations, reports bdnews24.com.

He noted that symbols would be allotted to the remaining 24 candidates on Wednesday.

The other two withdrawals are Jamaat-e-Islami’s Enamul Haque and Islami Oikya Jote’s Sharif Uddin Talukdar.
