BNP announced Sunday the commencement of another three-day mass-contact programme starting from tomorrow (Tuesday).

The purpose of this programme is to advocate for their single demand, which is the resignation of the Awami League government and the restoration of a non-party caretaker government system.

The party and like-minded paties will also observe the programme which will mark leaflet distribution and create awareness among the people to boycott the scheduled national election on January 7.

Senior joint secretary general of the Party Ruhul Kabir Rizvi came up with the announcement at an online press conference while the party observed day-long blockade on Sunday following the the first spell of three-day mass contact.

BNP's like-minded parties also announced a similar programme three hours before the end of their nationwide road, rail and waterway blockade across the country.

Rizvi said, the programme will be held in support of the ongoing non-cooperation movement against the government and election boycott.

The BNP leader also said there will be no program on Monday since the day is the largest religious festival of Christian communities around the world.

"Mass contact and leaflet distribution program will be held between December 26 and 28 with the initiatives of the BNP and the like-minded political parties," said Mr Rizvi.

In a separate statement, Mr Rizvi said an unknown youth attempted to enter the BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia's cabin at a city hospital on Saturday evening.

Mr Rizvi raised questions whether such illegal entry was a conspiracy or not.

Meanwhile, the party leaders and activists brought out processions on Sunday in different parts of the city including Paltan, Shahbag, Mirpur, and Newmarket area to observe the daylong blckade.

However miscreants burnt at least one public bus in the city's Jurain area.

The fire service and civil defence (FSCD) in a statement said a Raida Transport bus was set on fire at around 2.30.

On information, two units of Postogola fire station hurried to the spot and doused the fire at 2.53pm.

The FSCD said it was informed of four arson attacks on public buses across the country including three in the capital city between Saturday 6.00am and Sunday 6.00 am.
