The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has expressed regret over the public inconvenience and traffic congestion caused by its recent youth rallies held in Dhaka and several other cities.
In a press statement issued on Thursday, the party said, “We sincerely apologise for the temporary inconvenience caused to city dwellers, particularly due to traffic congestion, as millions of youths gathered in Dhaka and other cities during the vibrant youth rallies.”
BNP also extended its gratitude to the administration, police and traffic department for their cooperation in ensuring the smooth and successful completion of the programmes, reports UNB.
Following the Dhaka rally, cleanliness drives were jointly conducted by three BNP-affiliated organisations and the party expressed thanks to all the sanitation workers who participated in the initiative.
BNP had launched a month-long series of programmes aimed at involving the country’s youth in the policymaking process, based on the 31-point outline announced under the directive of the party’s acting Chairman Tarique Rahman which concluded on Wednesday.
Organised jointly by Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal, Jatiyatabadi Swechchhasebak Dal, and Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, the two-day programmes were held in Chattogram, Khulna, Bogura and Dhaka.
Each event featured a seminar on the first day titled "Tarunner Rajnoitik Bhabna O Orthonoitik Mukti", followed by a mass rally on the second day focusing on "Tarunner Rajnoitik Odhikar Protisthar Somabesh."
According to the press statement, the main objective of the campaign was to harness the creativity, skills, and vision of the youth to open new avenues in politics and the economy and integrate them into the national development strategy.
The party said the eight events reflected the commitment of the country's youth to political participation and their determination for a democratic future.
