A delegation from the BNP has started talks with the Election Commission (EC) to discuss preparations for the country’s 13th parliamentary election.
The talks started at 3:30pm on Sunday in the conference room of the EC headquarters in Dhaka’s Agargaon.
Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin presided over the meeting, joined by Election Commissioners Abdur Rahmanel Masud, Begum Tahmida Ahmad, Anwarul Islam Sarkar, and Abul Fazal Md Sanaullah. Election Commission Secretary Akhtar Ahmed was also in attendance.
The BNP delegation included Standing Committee members Nazrul Islam Khan, Salahuddin Ahmed, and Selima Rahman.
This marks the BNP’s first meeting with the Nasir Uddin-led EC since its formation on Nov 21, 2024.
Before the formal talks, the BNP delegation met with the chief election commissioner in his office. Speaking to bdnews24.com before the session, Salahuddin said, “We are here to discuss various issues, including preparations for the national election. We want to learn about the commission’s plans concerning the parliamentary elections.”
