BNP delegation to meet chief adviser on April 16: Salahuddin

A delegation of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) will meet Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus on April 16 for a discussion regarding the upcoming national election and reforms.

Earlier, the party had sought time from him to meet the interim government's chief (CA) adviser on various issues, including the election. The BNP officials confirmed that the CA office replied scheduling the meeting on April 16.

BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed told reporters On Wednesday at the party chairperson's office in Gulshan that in the meeting with the CA, BNP will seek a certain roadmap from the interim government regarding holding elections by December.

"Since there has been a haze in the statements of various parties on various issues, including the election roadmap we will call on him (CA) to clear it up," he said.

"We will definitely ask the chief adviser for a certain roadmap for the next parliamentary elections before December. So that he clearly presents it to the nation in a proper manner, so that the sense of uncertainty is removed,” he went on.

The BNP senior leader said that they would say that there is enough time. Before that, we discussed it with the Election Commission. They will be able to complete all preparations by June. The Chief Adviser has also assured us that they are conducting all activities to hold elections by December, he added.

Meanwhile, BNP has announced to hold pro-Palestinian rallies across the cities, including in Dhaka on Thursday.

BNP asked people to join this rally as conscious citizens regardless of party or opinion.

“Awaken the world's conscience. Let Israel's genocide in Palestine end. Let the Palestinians' right to their homeland be established,” BNP said in a statement on Wednesday.
