Sayeed Al Noman, son of Bangladesh Nationalist Party leader Abdullah Al Noman, who passed away in February, has secured the BNP nomination to run in the general election from the Chattogram-10 constituency.

Senior BNP leader Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, who was initially nominated for the seat, has now been shifted to stand in the election scheduled for Febr 12 next year from the Chattogram-11 constituency, which includes Bandar and Patenga.

BNP chairperson’s Advisor Aslam Chowdhury has received the party’s nomination for the Chattogram-4 seat. BNP leader Kazi Salahuddin had earlier been nominated for that constituency.

BNP’s Central Organising Secretary Mahbuber Rahman Shamim confirmed the development on Saturday.

After the BNP announced its initial nominations on Nov 3, selecting Kazi Salahuddin to represent the party in the election from Chattogram-4, supporters of Aslam blocked the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway.

Aslam’s four supporters were expelled following the protest.

The party has yet to nominate a candidate for the Chattogram-14 constituency.

“I am grateful to everyone in the party and will try my best to respect the honor,” said Syeed.

The BNP has finalised candidates for 15 of the 16 constituencies in Chattogram. No nomination has been announced for Chattogram-14, which covers parts of Chandanaish and Satkania.

It has ceded some of its seats to alliance partners.

The final date for collecting nomination papers to enter the election is Dec 29.
