BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Tuesday said his party is prepared for elections at any time.
Speaking to journalists at the BNP Chairperson’s Gulshan office, he emphasised that BNP believes in elections, not revolutions, as the path to power.
Recently returned from Thailand after eye surgery, Fakhrul laid floral wreaths at Ziaur Rahman’s grave on Eid day.
He openly discussed political issues, including seat-sharing with allies, interim government activities, and reform commissions, according to local media.
Fakhrul said BNP expects elections by December, echoing acting chairman Tarique Rahman’s stance. Regarding Jamaat’s suggestion for April polls, Fakhrul termed April unsuitable due to Ramadan, Eid, and extreme weather, which would raise campaign costs and reduce public participation.
