BNP Senior Joint Secretary Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Monday called upon the police to stand in favour of truth and not support falsehoods.

He made the call while distributing PET bottled pure drinking water and rehydration oral saline (ROS) in Dhaka city’s Khilgaon area.

“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina treats police like Jubo League and Chhatra League,” Rizvi  said.

“The Prime Minister used Benazir and Asaduzzaman (two former high-ups of police) to cling to power (to remain in power). The fate of Asaduzzaman might be similar to that of Benazir,” he said.

Commenting on the current environmental crisis, the senior BNP leader said that the government has turned the whole country into a poisonous gas chamber and is pushing people towards death.

A total of 17 people, including school students, have so far died due to heatstroke amidst the ongoing spell of scorching heat across the country, he noted.

"BNP has stood with people by providing bottled water and saline amid the ongoing sweltering heat. The ruling party claims that they have undertaken numerous development projects. But what have (the ruling Awami League) they done for the people during this heatwave?" he said.
