The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) senior leader Nazrul Islam Khan has said any move to rehabilitate Awami League (AL) will be resisted.

He also demanded the election to be held in December this year.

"Some are spreading the falsehood that the BNP is trying to rehabilitate the Awami League. However, there is no compromise with the Awami League as long as we are alive and even if someone tries to compromise, we will protest it," he said.

The BNP Standing Committee Member Nazrul Islam Khan came up with the remarks while speaking at a discussion, organised by the 12-party alliance at the Jatiya Press Club in the capital on Monday, demanding the removal of obstacles to the election and Tarique Rahman's return.

First time in history in the country a government head fled the country in a disgraceful way in face of a movement, he said.

In line with the government version the reform talks and July proclamation would be completed in one and half months. So, what is the problem in holding the next national election by December this year, he questioned.

If they want to delay the election then they will have to explain why they need more time, Nazrul added.
