Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) acting Chairman Tarique Rahman on Saturday called for building a Bangladesh free from exploitation and discrimination where people's aspirations will be fulfilled.
"In the face of the student-mass movement, the fascist government stepped down. Let's build a Bangladesh by fulfilling the aspirations of the people," he said while addressing a meeting as the chief guest virtually from London, organised by the Jhenaidah district BNP.
Recalling the sacrifices of the martyrs during the July-August movement against the Sheikh Hasina-led fascist regime, he said, "We must recognise their supreme sacrifices; otherwise the history will not forgive us."
Tarique Rahman said that the collaborators of the autocratic ruler Sheikh Hasina are still holding different positions of the administration.
"This interim government came with the support from all," he said.
It is not possible for the interim government to resolve all problems alone, he continued.
Mr Tarique Rahman alleged that many BNP leaders and activists were killed and became victims of enforced disappearances during the last 16 years' regime of the fascist Awami League.
He said that during the rule of the fallen autocratic ruler (Sheikh Hasina), people's rights were snatched away and they (people) couldn't say anything going against the Awami League.
He also said that the fallen autocratic ruler (Sheikh Hasina) was compelled to flee the country (to India) in the face of student- mass uprising.
