Jatiya Chhatra Shakti, the student wing of the National Citizen Party (NCP), has announced its partial central and Dhaka University (DU) committees. The new committees were declared on Friday night.
Zahid Ahsan has taken charge as the president of the central committee with Abu Baker Mojumder as the general secretary.
Abu Touhid Md. Siam has been appointed organisational secretary (North Zone), while Mahir Alam will serve as organisational secretary (South Zone).
For the Dhaka University unit, Tahmid Al Muddassir Chowdhury has been made president, Al Amin Sarkar general secretary, and Md. Saifullah, organisational secretary.
According to two separate press releases signed by the central president and general secretary, the committees will be made fully functional within the next seven working days.
Newly appointed central president Jahid Ahsan previously served as the central member secretary of the Bangladesh Ganatantrik Chhatra Sangshad (BGCS).
Central General Secretary Abu Bakar Mojumdar, a student of the Department of Geology at DU (2019–20 session), was one of the coordinators of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement. He also served as the convener of the BGCS central committee and ran for the DUCSU general secretary position from the Anti-Discrimination Student Council panel.
DU Unit President Tahmid Al Muddassir Chowdhury was the chief organiser of BGCS and had contested as an independent candidate for the assistant general secretary position in the DUCSU election.
DU General Secretary Al Amin Sarkar contested the DUCSU election for the sports secretary position from the BGCS panel. He was also the senior joint member secretary of the organisation’s DU committee.
