Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus has invited BNP to hold discussions at the State Guest House Jamuna on Monday (June 2), Standing Committee member of the party Salahuddin Ahmed has said.

“There is no shortage of formalities when it comes to dialogue. But in terms of meaningful action, there is nothing”, he said during a discussion meeting organised by the party's farmers' wing, Krishak Dal, in the capital this afternoon.

Salahuddin alleged that a certain quarter is branding BNP leaders as traitors and foreign agents simply because they oppose the current electoral process.

"This is how 17 years of sacrifice is being repaid," he remarked.

Accusing the government of using the guise of reform to deceive the public, he said, "Elections must be held before December — this is the demand of the people. There is no reason to hold elections after December."

The senior BNP leader also demanded that the government publicly clarify the rationale behind holding elections after December.
