The Detective Branch (DB) of police has arrested seven leaders of banned Awami League (AL) and its affiliated bodies from different parts of the capital in the ongoing crackdown.
The arrestees are: former chairman of Durgapur upazila of Netrakona district Jannatul Ferdaus Juma alias Juma Talukder (40); general secretary of banned Jubo League of Savar unit of Dhaka district Nasir Ahmed (52); joint general secretary of AL Bhashantek thana unit of Dhaka north Hasan Ali Mollah (52); AL worker Jubair Hossain alias Mamun (48); president of Jubo League Dilalpur union unit under Bajitpur upazila of Kishoreganj district Ashraf Sidfique (51); activist of AL Md Ramjan (47) and general secretary of Jubo League Kayetpara Union unit under Rupganj police station of Narayanganj district Mosharraf Bhuiyan (49).
Deputy Police Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) Muhammad Talebur Rahman said that a team of the DB police of Motijheel circle of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested Jannatul Ferdaus Juma alias Juma Talukder from Dhanmondi area in the city at around 8:30 am on Wednesday.
The same DB team (Motijheel circle) also arrested Mosharraf Bhuiyan from Bashundhara area at around 1:20 am while Jubair Hossain alias Mamun was nabbed by DB's Cyber and Special Crime Unit from Syamoli residential area in the city at around 1:30 on Wednesday.
A team of the DB police of DMP Mirpur circle arrested Nasir Ahmed from Hemayetpur bus stand in Dhaka at around 5:00 pm on Tuesday and nabbed Hasan Ali Mollah from Baridhara areas in the city at around 10:00 pm on the same day.
Another DB police team of Motijheel circle nabbed Ashraf Siddique and Md Ramjan during a raid in Gulistan area of the city at around 2:00 pm on Tuesday. The arrestees were sent to the court.
