BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman suggested that politics should be policy-based, as Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) leaders met him on Wednesday.

He called for avoiding mudslinging among political parties, saying thoughts and politics should be constructive.

This way the country would move forward, he noted while exchanging views with leaders of the newly- elected executive committee of DRU.

The DRU executive committee led by its President Abu Saleh Akon and General Secretary Mainul Hasan Sohel paid the courtesy call on Tarique Rahman at the BNP Chairperson's Office in the city.

Highlighting BNP's ideas for building the future of Bangladesh and running the state, Tarique Rahman said, BNP would work by giving importance to the opinions of domestic and foreign professional experts to solve all civic problems, including traffic congestion, to make Dhaka a livable city.

In addition, BNP would work to promote education, health and agricultural production and to put the country on a strong economic foundation, he added.

Tarique Rahman also mentioned his party's plan to build satellite cities around Dhaka.

He also said if BNP comes to power, the media would enjoy complete freedom. The BNP government would work to protect journalists. Even if journalists support any party, it is better not to reflect this in the workplace.
