Leaders and activists of the Dhaka University unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) held a procession on Tuesday demanding improved campus safety following recent cocktail explosions and weapon recoveries on campus.

The procession started from the TSC area at 1:15pm, winding through various campus locations before concluding with a rally in front of the Oporajeyo Bangla sculpture.

At the rally, JCD leaders blamed the university administration for its failure to ensure safety and demanded the identification and punishment of suspects.

Ganesh Chandra Roy Sahos, DU JCD president, said the administration had repeatedly failed to act on incidents, including graffiti removal, attacks on students, and recent explosions.

He called the cocktail blasts a direct result of administrative negligence and demanded the resignation of the vice-chancellor and proctor.

On Monday, two cocktails exploded near the Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall Pocket Gate, and police later recovered six unexploded cocktails from the Kazi Motaher Hossain Building on campus.

At the time of the explosion, Bangladesh Chhatra League, a banned organisation, staged a sudden procession from Katabon to Shahbagh.
