The election commission for the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) announced that it will declare the schedule for the polls on July 29.
The election itself is scheduled to take place in the second week of September, according to Chief Election Commissioner Jasim Uddin.
Jasim made the announcement on Sunday during a final meeting with stakeholders held at the Senate Building of Dhaka University.
“This is the only official date,” he said.
“We expect it to take 40 to 45 days after the schedule is announced. We are determined to hold the election within this time frame.”
To ensure neutrality, voting will be conducted at six designated centres across the campus.
According to the committee, students from Dr Muhammad Shahidullah Hall, Amar Ekushey Hall and Fazlul Haque Hall will vote at the Curzon Hall exam centre. Students from Jagannath Hall, Shaheed Sergeant Zahurul Haque Hall and Salimullah Muslim Hall will cast their ballots at the Physical Education Centre. Students of Rokeya Hall, Shamsun Nahar Hall and Kabi Sufia Kamal Hall will vote at the Student-Teacher Centre.
