The Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) has announced a month-long nationwide campaign to draw public support for a 'Yes' vote in the upcoming national referendum, describing it as a crucial step toward implementing reforms of the state structure.

The programme was unveiled at a press conference held in the capital on Tuesday. DUCSU Vice President Shadik Kayem read out the written statement on behalf of the organisation.

In the statement, DUCSU leaders said that reforming the state structure was the core demand of the July uprising, and the forthcoming referendum represents a historic path toward fulfilling that demand.

Participation in the referendum and casting a 'Yes' vote, they added, would be an expression of responsibility toward the sacrifices made by the July martyrs.

The leaders argued that prolonged authoritarian rule had deprived people of their rightful role in state decision-making. Through the referendum, they said, an opportunity has emerged to break that structure and return power to the people. According to DUCSU, a 'Yes' vote would pave the way for the implementation of the July Charter, establish a balance of power within the state, and enable constitutional institutions to function independently and effectively.

As part of the month-long programme, DUCSU plans to carry out nationwide grassroots outreach, online campaigns, seminars, debates, street theatre, and cultural events.

The campaign will also include visits to educational institutions and dialogue sessions with journalists, civil society members, and political and social organisations. In addition, initiatives will be taken to release songs, poems, and documentaries in support of the referendum.

DUCSU has called on all anti-authoritarian political parties, including Jamaat-e-Islami, BNP, and NCP as well as student organisations, professional bodies, and the general public to unite and actively campaign for a 'Yes' vote.

According to DUCSU leaders, the outcome of the referendum will determine the future direction of Bangladesh. They described it as not merely a political decision, but a significant commitment toward building a secure, just, and democratic Bangladesh.Trade Fair Guide
