A delegation from Jamaat-e-Islami has sat down for talks with the Election Commission amid preparations to announce the schedule of the 13th parliamentary election and the planned national referendum, expected to take place simultaneously in early February next year.
The meeting began around 11:30 am on Monday at the EC headquarters in Dhaka's Agargaon.
Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin is chairing the session, with other election commissioners also in attendance, reports bdnews24.com.
Jamaat’s six-strong contingent is being led by the party’s Secretary General, Mia Golam Porwar.
The EC is expected to finalise the timetable for the polls and referendum in the coming days, with the announcement due after its meeting with President Md Shahabuddin on Dec 10.
