Awami League (AL) General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Saturday said that BNP is an extremist party as it had carried out many evil activities in the past, reports BSS.
"Extremism was born at the hands of BNP. Like a driver of a reckless car, Mirza Fakhrul is a reckless driver of politics. He wants to make accidents (as a driver) as the past records say so. BNP men want to repeat the accidents again and again as there is no other activity to survive in politics," he said.
The minister made the remarks at a press conference at the AL president's Dhanmondi political office in the capital.
Pointing at BNP's ill-attempts, the AL general secretary said they have blood stains on their hands in the politics of Bangladesh as they started the politics of murder and conspiracy in this country.
The most scandalous murder in the history of human civilisation was committed on August 15, 1975 and the masterminds were General Ziaur Rahman and Khandaker Mostak, he added.
Drawing attention to the proverb 'One doth the scath and another hath the scorn', the AL general secretary said it is surprising that BNP wants to blame AL for those misdeeds which were done by them (BNP men).
Referring to the gruesome grenade attack on an anti-terrorism rally of the then opposition party, Awami League, in the capital on August 21 in 2004, Quader said more than twenty-three people lost their lives in that incident.
The BNP-Jamaat coalition government even staged the 'Joj Mia' drama to cover up the incident, he added.
Criticising BNP for is evil activities, he also recalled the November 3 Jail Killing Day.
All the aforesaid murders were committed during the tenure of BNP, he said, adding that BNP, even killed its own leader and put the responsibility on Awami League ahead of the elections.
They have repeatedly staged dramas to hide the real facts, Quader said, adding that they still continue the ill-activity of blaming others for their own actions or misdeeds.
"What Mirza Fakhrul is saying after coming out of jail is the echo of these dramas," he continued.
AL Organising Secretaries Abu Saeed Al Mahmud Swapan and Sujit Roy Nandi, Office Secretary Barrister Biplab Barua and central and city unit leaders of AL were present on the occasion.
