Fakhrul hails govt’s decision to hold election in February

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has lauded Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus’s announcement that national elections will be held in February in an address to the nation, calling it “historic”.

The senior BNP leader shared the party’s reaction to the announcement formally at a press briefing on Wednesday, reports bdnews24.com.

“The BNP believes that Bangladesh will get over the political stagnation through this historic announcement, and it will smoothen the path to democracy in the country.”

"The BNP also hopes that the government and the Election Commission will take all measures necessary to make this election fair, free, impartial and acceptable to all, and the BNP is calling on all political parties and the people to form an effective national parliament."
