Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud is teaching at Dhaka University (DU) after discharging political and state duties along with working for his own constituency.
Dr Hasan is taking classes on global climate at the honours level at the Department of Oceanography of Dhaka University as a part-time teacher, said a press release on Friday, reports UNB.
He also took online classes during the Covid-19 pandemic. After the end of the pandemic, he returned to the classroom and continued taking classes amid his busy life, added the release.
Hasan, who did his PhD. in Environmental Chemistry, at Limburg University, Belgium was awarded the "Certificate of Honorable Mention" by Green Cross International, an environmentalist organisation in 2015 for his active role in the global environmental movement.
Hasan Mahmud is popular among students for his curiosity-provoking teaching style preferred to take classes physically instead of online platforms.
The minister previously taught at Jahangirnagar University, North South and East West University as a teacher.
He also gave special lectures at Cornell University, New York, USA, Harvard University, Boston, USA, Melbourne University, Australia, City University of London, UK (Contentions Politics & Democracy in the Digital Arena- January 2017) and National Defense College (NDC), Dhaka and different other institutions at home and abroad.
