Jasim Uddin, the BNP-backed and Gono Odhikar Parishad candidate, on Thursday announced a boycott of voting in the Cumilla-4 (Debidwar) constituency.

His main rival in the seat is Hasnat Abdullah, chief organiser of the National Citizen Party (NCP).

Speaking on Facebook Live in the afternoon, the candidate with the Truck symbol alleged vote rigging, occupation of polling centres, distribution of illegal money, and administrative bias.

At one stage of the live broadcast, Jasim declared that he was boycotting the election.

With his key rival out of the race, Hasnat Abdullah is now poised to secure victory in Cumilla-4.
