Leaders and activists of cultural and political organisation Inqilab Moncho have blocked Dhaka's Shahbagh intersection for a third consecutive day, demanding the arrest and speedy trial of those involved in the murder of the platform's convenor Sharif Osman bin Hadi.
The protesters gathered at the Shahbagh intersection around 2pm on Sunday as part of a pre-announced programme, reports bdnews24.com.
Around 2:30pm, they blocked all roads at Shahbagh and took up position at the intersection, triggering traffic congestion in surrounding areas.
Earlier on Saturday night, Inqilab Moncho announced a programme to block roads in divisional cities across the country.
In a Facebook post, the platform called for an "all-out" blockade in divisional cities from 2pm on Sunday, demanding the immediate arrest and trial of those responsible for the killing of Hadi.
