Jamaat Ameer condemns killing of lawyer in Chattogram, claims victim was party activist

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman has strongly condemned and protested the killing of lawyer Saiful Islam Alif, who was attacked by protesters demanding the release of Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, spokesperson of the Bangladesh Sanatan Jagaran Mancha, in Chattogram court premises.
He claimed that the deceased was an activist of Jamaat-e-Islami.
In a statement issued on Tuesday evening, Dr Shafiqur condemned the killing in Chattogram earlier in the day, describing it as a heinous crime.
"The brutal murder that took place in Chattogram Metropolitan City on Tuesday afternoon is a despicable and condemnable act. A certain group, supporting a fallen autocracy, is persistently engaging in conspiracies and malicious attempts to destabilize Bangladesh”, he said.
“Through provocative actions, they aim to create unrest in the country.”
“However, the patriotic people are fully aware of their intentions and remain united against them. Just as their attempts have failed in the past, they will fail again in the future, In Sha Allah", he added.
Claiming Saiful Islam Alif, as his party member, Dr. Shafiqur expressed deep sadness over the killing of the young lawyer, also an APP at the Chattogram Judge Court.
He urged his party activists, students, and the public to exercise utmost patience in the face of any provocation.
"Under no circumstances should the law be taken into one's own hands," he further said.
