Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has formed a committee for the Hindu wing of the party in Rangpur’s Pirgachha.
Bhavesh Chandra Barman, an assistant professor at Mirzapur Degree College, has been made the president of the committee, while a local medicine trader Bijan Chandra Das has been appointed as the general secretary.
Ameer of the Pirgaccha Sadar Union’s Jamaat unit Abdur Jabbar announced the formation of the Hindu committee on Friday.
Tapas Chandra Roy, a lecturer at Devi Chowdhurani Degree College, has been appointed as vice president; Kisamat Jhinia as assistant secretary; Sudharanjan Barman as president of Sanatan Sangha; and Prabash Chandra Barman, an assistant teacher at Deuty School and College, has been named the treasurer of the committee.
Before the committee’s formation, a discussion meeting was held with members of the local Hindu community.
The meeting was conducted by Hafiz Idris Ali, the organizational secretary of the Union Jamaat, with Maulana Enamul Haque, the secretary of Rangpur District Jamaat, serving as the chief guest.
Over two hundred people from the Hindu community attended the discussion meeting.
