The 11-party alliance led by Jamaat-e-Islami is holding an emergency meeting without the participation of Islami Andolan, a party that plans to leave the alliance if it does not get its expected seats and no consensus is reached on its key policies.
Leaders of the 10 remaining parties held the meeting at the Jamaat-e-Islami central office on Thursday afternoon.
Although the parties did not officially comment on the meeting, a leader of the alliance told bdnews24.com that no representative from Islami Andolan was attending.
However, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis Central Organising Secretary Mohammad Faisal confirmed to bdnews24.com that the meeting was held.
“Our ameer, Mamunul Sir, is participating in the meeting, where leaders of 10 parties are present,” he said.
After a photograph of the meeting circulated on social media, one of the leaders attending confirmed the authenticity of the image.
The photograph shows Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb-e-Ameer Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis Ameer Mamunul Haque, NCP Convener Nahid Islam, BDP chairman Anwarul Islam Chand, AB Party Chairman Mujibur Rahman Manju, and Khelafat Majlis Secretary General Ahmad Abdur Kader, among other senior leaders, attending the meeting.
