Jatiya Party used to be called a domesticated opposition but now it is referred to as a ‘slave’, said Kazi Firoz Rashid, executive chairman of the Rowshan Ershad-led faction of the party, on Friday noon.

“The future of this party is bleak. People have no faith in the Jatiya Party. Still, we are trying to figure out how to keep this party organised," he told a press conference at a hotel in Dhaka city’s Bijoy Nagar. The press conference was organised by the faction to announce postponing its introductory meeting scheduled for Saturday, considering the heatwave across the country.

Kazi Firoz, who was recently relieved of all posts in the party led by GM Quader, said politics has now become the only way to suddenly become rich. Those who didn’t have TIN now drive in Prado. They have become millionaires overnight.

Senior Co-Chairman of the Rowshan-led faction Syed Abu Hossain, Co-Chairman Shahidur Rahman, and Secretary General Mamunur Rashid, among others, spoke at the conference.
