Jatiya Party’s Delwar Jalali steps down, cites no reason

Khandaker Delwar Hossain Jalali, who served as press secretary to the Jatiya Party chairman for many years, has resigned from the role and the party.

On Monday evening, he announced his decision in a post on Facebook, reports bdnews24.com.

“I have worked as press secretary to the Jatiya Party chairman for a long time. I have tried to support with party assignments, press releases and other information. I also tried to prepare ready news in the form of press releases whenever possible. At times, perhaps due to limitations or unintended reasons, I could not provide information on time,” he wrote.

“[On Monday], I have stepped down as press secretary to the Jatiya Party chairman. If anyone in the Jatiya Party or in the press covering the party has ever been hurt by my actions, I sincerely apologise.

“I wish everyone success, good health and long life. Please keep me in your prayers,” he added.

Speaking to bdnews24.com, Jalali said: "I have held the position of press secretary for many years. I also worked as press secretary to Hussain Muhammad Ershad and held the same position with GM Quader.I have learned a lot working with them."

Asked why he quit, he said: "I have left the Jatiya Party, but beyond that I do not want to say anything more. I have nothing to say about those I worked with for so long."

Jatiya Party General Secretary Shameem Haider Patwary said, “I have seen his post, but the reason behind it I can only confirm after speaking with the chairman.”
