Jahangirnagar University (JU) unit of the Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) on Thursday announced its 25-member panel for the Jahangirnagar University Central Students' Union (JUCSU) election scheduled for September 11.
The announcement was made by Abu Afsan Mohammad Yahia, central senior vice-president of JCD, at a press conference held in front of the university's "Adamya 24" sculpture.
According to the declaration, Sheikh Sadi Hasan has been nominated for vice-president (VP) candidate, while Tanzila Hossain Boishakhi will contest for the post of general secretary (GS). Besides, Sajjadul Islam and Anjuman Ikra have been nominated as joint general secretaries in male and female categories, respectively.
The panel also includes Yamin Howlader, secretary for Education and Research, Likhan Chandra Roy, secretary for Environment and Nature Conservation, and Jahid Hasan Khan, secretary for Literature and Publications.
Md Abidur Rahman has been nominated as secretary for Cultural Affairs, and Md Parvez Hasan Nishan as deputy secretary for Cultural Affairs.
Other nominations include Md Aminul Islam, secretary for Drama, Md Jaber Hasan, secretary for ICT and Library Affairs, and Md Tawhidur Rahman Khan, secretary for Social Welfare and Human Resource Development.
In addition, Shakil Sardar and Kazi Mausumi Afroz have been nominated as deputy secretaries for Social Welfare in the male and female categories.
Ujjal Hasan has been named secretary for Sports; Ruhul Amin Sweet and Mst Shahanaz Parvin Shanu as deputy secretaries for Sports; Zahirul Islam as secretary for Transport and Communications, while Md Mominul Islam as secretary for Health and Food Security.
The panel also includes six executive members: Hamidullah Salman, Mehedi Hasan, and A. M. Rafidullah in the male category, and Sumaiya Sultana Shiya, Happy Akter Shila, and Shayla Sabrin Nizhum in the female category.
