BNP Chairman Khaleda Zia is set to fly to London on Tuesday, following the completion of the formalities.

She will depart at night on a specially arranged air ambulance from Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, reports bdnews24.com.

Ahead of her trip, Khaleda exchanged greetings and farewells with BNP Standing Committee members at her Gulshan residence “Feroza” around 9pm on Sunday.

Speaking to journalists after the meeting, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir confirmed the details of her travel schedule.

A senior BNP leader involved in her travel preparations said the Emir of Qatar, aware of Khaleda’s health condition, arranged the royal fleet’s special aircraft.

The air ambulance is equipped with advanced medical facilities, he added.

Khaleda, 79, has been suffering from liver cirrhosis, heart disease, kidney issues, and other health complications for years.

She will initially stay at her son Tarique Rahman’s residence in London for a few days.

Following a few days at her son’s residence, the BNP chief will travel to the United States for advanced liver treatment.
