Law Minister denies Fakhrul’s allegation: Govt forming new tribunal for speedy trial of opposition leaders

Law Minister Anisul Huq has denied the allegation made by the BNP secretary general that a new tribunal is being set up to expedite the trial of opposition party leaders.

The government has no plans or intentions to establish a new tribunal, Prothom Alo reports quoting the law minister on Sunday.

Earlier in the day, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir alleged that all old cases involving BNP and opposition party leaders and activists were rapidly completed sentencing them ahead of the January 7 national elections, and this process is ongoing and, for that purpose a new tribunal is being set up.
