

Senior BNP leader Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has visited and paid respect at the shrine of Muslim Sufi saint Shahjalal.
Secretary General Fakhrul flew from Dhaka and reached Sylhet in the evening on Sunday, said Sylhet BNP President Abdul Qaiyum Chowdhury, bdnews24.com reports.
After the BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman’s return home and following his party nomination for the Thakurgaon-1 constituency, this is Fakhrul’s first visit to Sylhet.
Abdul Qayyum said, “Today, on Sunday, Mirza Fakhrul will take part in a meeting to exchange views with local journalists at the Windsor Hotel and Resort around 6pm. He is expected to return to Dhaka afterwards.”
Meanwhile, the visit of the party’s second-highest-ranking leader ahead of the national election has generated enthusiasm and excitement among local BNP leaders and activists.
