Some unidentified miscreants shot a local leader of ruling Awami League (AL) dead in Titas upazila of Comilla on Saturday night.
The AL activist was identified as Mohammad Monir (48), former president of Jagatpur union Awami League.
Inspector (investigation) Manzur Kader Bhuiyan of Titas Police Station said at around 8:30pm, some miscreants fired two bullets in Monir’s chest in front a school in Vatipara village under Jagatpur union.
The victim was rushed to Gauripur Upazila Health Complex in Daudkandi where the on-duty doctor declared him dead, says a UNB report.
Meanwhile, a local source said that an internal clash between the party members might be the cause of the killing.
