Sarjis Alam, principal organiser (northern region) of the National Citizens Party (NCP). has said his party has no objection to next general election in April next year if the reforms are visible before the polls.

“We've no objection to holding the election in April if we can see the trial [of those who committed crimes in the previous Awami League government] and basic reforms in judiciary, law enforcing agencies and Election Commission are visible by that time,” he said.

Sarjis Alam said was talking to the journalists at Chowrangi crossing on Monday.

"In the past," he said, "we saw the abuse of power and black money during the election period. We want a level playing field ahead of the polls."

He expressed the hope that all political parties, be they small or big, will get equal opportunities and be allowed to take part in the election.

The NCP leader said, "Power should not be used to make anybody victim. We don’t want to see any more capturing of polling centre and looting of ballot papers in future."

Principal organiser of NCP (south region) Hasnat Abdullah and coordinator of Panchagar Sadar Upazila Tanbirul Bari Nayon were present.

Earlier, Sarjis Alam, along with Hasnat Abdullah, exchanged Eid greetings with party leaders and activists.
