NCP to push for judicial ban on Awami League, seeks immediate registration cancellation

The National Citizen Party (NCP) is in favour of banning the Awami League (AL), accusing the party of committing genocide during the July mass uprising.

Rather than calling for an executive order to ban AL, the NCP is demanding that the ban be carried out through a judicial process.

In the meantime, the NCP wants the Awami League’s registration to be cancelled before the trial is concluded. The party plans to continue holding programmes to press for their demand.

The NCP has also called for the Awami League and its affiliated organisations to be barred from carrying out political activities while the trial is ongoing. They have vowed to oppose any efforts to rehabilitate the party strongly.
