Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said on Saturday that the present government is standing on a quicksand and the thrown of the government will sink into the quicksand anytime.

"This illegitimate government is standing on a quicksand. The thrown of the government will sink into the quicksand anytime," he made the comment at a rally in front of the party's Nayapaltan central office in the capital.

Mr Rizvi said that the government just out of fear has detained BNP leaders Habibun Nabi Khan Sohel, Saiful Alam Nirob , Abdul Quader Bhuiyan Jewel and others.

Criticising the comment made by Awami League (AL) General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader against BNP, he said, "They (AL) couldn't work openly rather underhand."

"What they (AL) say verbally, they used to do different. How Israeli plane landed at Bangladesh airport (Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Dhaka)? People say that a sack of felicitation messages was sent to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina," he continued.

"Banks are being looted, houses are being usurped, and you (government) couldn't detain them because ruling party leaders and activists are involved with those occurrences," he maintained.

"I do believe that the government of Sheikh Hasina will fall one day. In the world good always gains win while bad faces defeat. So the fall of Sheikh Hasina is inevitable," he said thanking party leaders and activists for joining the programme braving scorching heat that is sweeping across the country.
