Candidates from the Bangladesh Nationalist Lawyers Forum, loyal to the BNP, have won all 11 posts at stake in the Barishal Bar Association election which the pro-Awami League lawyers abstained from.
After voting ended on Thursday, election management convener Mokhlesur Rahman Bachchu announced the results on Friday morning.
SM Sadiqur Rahman Lincoln won race for president with 328 votes, while his closest rival, Md Mujibur Rahman Nantu, secured 243 votes.
Another candidate, Md Ali Haider Babul, polled 75 votes.
Mirza Md Riaz Hossain won the post of general secretary with 358 votes. His nearest rival Md Salauddin Masum, supported by Jamaat-e-Islami, got 162 votes, and BNP-backed candidate Md Azad Hossain secured 125 ballots.
Md Abdul Malek won the post of finance secretary by getting 463 votes, while his rival candidate Md Farid Uddin got 177 votes.
In the two posts of joint secretary, Beauty Sultan emerged victorious with 461 votes and Abdur Rahman Chokder won with 387 votes.
Their rivals Md Ruhul Amin Khair got 202 and Md Monir Hossain got 180 votes.
In the executive member posts, Kazi Mahmuda secured a maximum of 570 votes, followed by Abul Khair Ratan with 510, Md Azad with 501, and Md Matiur Rahman Sentu with 492 votes.
In addition, BNP-backed lawyers Asim Kumar Baroi and Md Tariqul Islam won the two vice-president posts unopposed.
Awami Lawyers Council members and Left-leaning lawyers, however, did not contest or exercise their voting rights in the election.
Bachchu said the voting took place in a festive atmosphere. Out of 1,021 voters in the association, 656 cast their ballots.
