Protirodh Parshad promises hall seats, academic reforms in DUCSU polls manifesto
The left-leaning alliance of seven student organisations contesting the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) election has pledged hall seats for first-year students under administrative supervision, as part of its 18-point manifesto.
The panel also promised to ban Gono Room, a room where many resident students stay, guest rooms and ragging, and to introduce a campus charter to ensure discipline, reports bdnews24.com.
General Secretary candidate Meghmallar Basu unveiled the manifesto at a media briefing near Madhur Canteen on Sunday.
Among other commitments, the panel vowed to set dates for central and hall union polls in the academic calendar, and to allocate at least 10 per cent of the budget for research.
It also pledged to safeguard the languages, cultures, customs and traditions of all ethnic groups in both hills and plains, while working to establish equal dignity and rights for all communities.
