Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader on Saturday called upon the people to go to polling centres without any fear, avoiding BNP's rumour and propaganda.
"Boycott the programme of BNP-Jamaat spreading panic in polls. Law enforcement agencies and security forces have been deployed to help for holding a peaceful election," he urged the voters in a press conference in his Noakhali-5 constituency (Companiganj-Kabirhat).
He added: "Come to polling centers without any fear and cast your vote to exercise your constitutional rights. Don't bow down to any sorts of intervention and intimidation."
Quader hoped polls will be held across the country in a free, fair, neutral and peaceful manner as foreign and local observers and foreign journalists will observe the election.
About BNP-Jamaat's subversive activities ahead of the elections, he said today the terrorist character of the evil force who is boycotting polls have been exposed again.
He expressed deep concern and condemnation over BNP and their cohorts's sabotage, arson and terrorist activities centring the January 7 election.
On Friday night, they killed four people including two children and burnt several others by setting fire on Dhaka-bound Benapole Express train coaches in the capital's Gopibagh area.
"We are expressing strong protest and condemnation over the heinous terrorist activity," he said.
BNP-Jamaat evil force wants to destroy the country and its peace as they are defeated force of the 1971 Liberation War and killers of 1975. "So, none can believe them. They want to do politics by torching people. Canadian Federal
Court's verdict proved again that BNP is a terrorist organisation," he said.
He said BNP called for boycotting election and they are spreading anti-election propaganda continuously.
Bangladesh never bows down to any evil force and won't do so in the days to come as well, he said.
"They are setting trains and buses on fire. The people of Bangladesh are apprised of their terrorist character. We are drawing attention of foreign election observers and journalists about these terrorists," he said.
Terming BNP as a killer and snatcher of democracy, Quader said it is BNP's work to snatch people's rights.
BNP has become a rumor-spreading party, he added.
Addressing the AL leaders and workers, the party general secretary urged all to remain alert as BNP cannot carry out any sabotage.
He hoped that the people will again cast their votes in favour of Awami League to let the party form government again and let Bangabandhu's daughter Sheikh Hasina to be prime minister for the fourth consecutive term and five
times in total.
"We will achieve another landslide victory this time InshaAllah," he said.
