Expressing deep concern over a concatenation of events countrywide, Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said achieving anything is not possible with splits at home.

"It's not possible to achieve anything with divisions inside the house," he told an event hosted by the Doctors Association of Bangladesh (DAB) at the National Press Club on Wednesday.

"I'm so concerned as sort of craziness has been there in the name of religion. We have fought for free press, which has now become a subject for burning."

Mr Fakhrul also expressed concern over madness on social media.

"The 'real face' has started exposing in just three months (after the fall of Sheikh Hasina). Achieving success is not possible with it. Personally, I don't want to see this type of Bangladesh."

Questioning countrywide restlessness in just three months since August 05, Mr Fakhrul said, "Incidents like realising demands on streets, violence, arson or bloodshed are happening. Why is such restlessness for?"

"How many divisions should Bangladesh see to move itself ahead? The country will rise again and again, but it will fall just for the reason of vengeance?"

"Assassinators are standing behind all of us," Mr Fakhrul said, adding: "If we understand it, we wouldn't have made such irresponsible comments."

"Some responsible persons act under provocation. I won't utter their names. They are working to create a path of division. The masses will decide whether they are friends or enemies of the country."

Pointing to the interim government, the BNP leader said, "Those who are in charge shouldn't make comments that create confusions."

"This government has been formed at the cost of blood of the martyrs, not at the mercy of anyone. So, the responsibility of the government is to meet people's aspirations," he continued.

DAB president Harun Al Rashid chaired the event, moderated by joint secretary general Mehedi Hasan.

BNP standing-committee member Dr AZM Zahid Hossain, party chairperson's advisory council member Amanullah Aman and DAB general secretary Abdus Salam, among others, were present.
