Rickshaw Puller Sujon not chosen in NCP’s initial candidate list

The National Citizen Party (NCP) has announced the first phase of its preliminary list of nominated candidates in 125 constituencies for the upcoming national election.
However, the name of rickshaw-puller Sujan, who rose to fame for his iconic salute during last year's July uprising, is not included in the preliminary list.
The initial list was announced at the party’s central office at 10:00 am today (Wednesday).
Sujan purchased nomination papers on November 20 to contest from the Dhaka-8 constituency (Motijheel–Shahjahanpur–Ramna) under the NCP banner.
Although his name is absent from the first phase, the NCP has kept the Dhaka-8 seat vacant for now. Party leaders said that the remaining candidates will be announced in phases.
