A total of 50 candidates have so far collected nomination papers for contesting the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) election.

On Saturday, the fifth day of nomination paper distribution, only seven candidates collected their forms.

Chief Returning Officer Professor Jasim Uddin shared the update at the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building on Saturday afternoon. With this, the total number of nomination papers collected for different positions in the central union has reached 50.

However, none of the much-talked-about candidates from major political student organisations so far confirmed their participation in the polls. The Chief Returning Officer noted that there could be a last-minute rush for nomination papers on the final day, August 18.

The election commission is considering a proposal to rearrange polling centres in response to demand from various student groups. So far, no untoward incidents have been reported on the campus over the election process.
